学生参议院 will become an organization recognized as a positive change agent to enhance the student experience, fostering student leadership, equality, and achievement through engagement.
The 学生参议院 focuses on the interests and opinions of the students in regard to the operations of the College. Through involvement in a wide variety of campus affairs the Senate provides a means for students to participate in the formulation and application of institutional policy affecting academic and student services. From this participation, the 学生参议院 aims to express student views and interests to the administration, develop better educational standards, facilities, and teaching methods, and to foster the recognition of the rights and responsibilities of students to the school and community.

Senate must not be on any type of probation. With the exclusion of freshman all students,
must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 at the end of the semester
preceding the election and must be taking at least twelve (12) semester hours each
semester at 太阳城集团官方网站.

- According to Article 2, Section 1.2 of the 学生参议院 Constitution, all Peru State College students seeking to run for the office of President or Vice President must have completed at least 30 college credit hours (15 of which must be completed at 太阳城集团官方网站), these 30 hours must be completed prior to running for office. In addition candidates must have previously served at least one term or currently be serving a term on the 学生参议院 of 太阳城集团官方网站. Candidates must meet all requirements of Article I of this Constitution, complete all required paperwork including a petition signed by fifty students and the student identification number of the electors signing the petition.

学生参议院 is seeking nominations for the Barb Lewellen, the 伊莱恩·汉森, the 服务卷轴, and the 托马斯Ediger awards. 奖项的说明和符合条件的名单如下。 Nominations are welcome from all 太阳城集团官方网站 students, student organizations, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Nominations are to be submitted to the 学生参议院 Office using the linked web
forms. Nominations must be in written form and include a short biography or reason
why you believe the nominee should receive one of the distinguished awards. Student
Senate will review the nominations and vote for the recipients. The winners will be
announced during the 学生参议院 banquet in the spring.

Barb Lewellen奖
This award is designed to honor an outstanding faculty, staff member, or administrator who has distinguished him or herself through the betterment of students and student life at 太阳城集团官方网站. The award is open to all part or full-time faculty, staff or administrators. 优胜者将获颁个人奖杯。 The recipient will also have their name engraved on the plaque, which is located in the entrance of the Student Center.

伊莱恩·汉森奖
This award distinguishes an individual (or individuals) who go above and beyond for the 太阳城集团官方网站 Community while not actually being enrolled or employed by the institution. Nominees can be alumni, former faculty, staff, and administrators, Foundation members, city and regional leaders, or spouses of active or former faculty, staff, or administrators. Winners of this award show true dedication to the members of the 太阳城集团官方网站 Community through their continued service to students and the institution and prove once more that the motto of “Once a Bobcat, Always a Bobcat” is more than simply a catchy slogan.

服务奖奖状
The 服务奖奖状 is the highest non-academic award that is given to a student at 太阳城集团官方网站. The 服务奖奖状 is designed to honor any current, full-time Peru State student for dedication and service to the student body and college (to qualify, a student must be enrolled for spring semester). The recipient will be presented with a plaque during the 学生参议院 banquet.

托马斯·艾迪格奖
This award is designed to honor an outstanding club or organization who has shown service above and beyond to the campus and its surrounding community.
资格 include:
- Must be an active club for at least one (1) year
- Recognized by 学生参议院 as a campus club/organization
(must have updated paperwork filed and hold regular meetings and elections)
Nominations may be submitted by any member or non-member, with the exception of students currently holding an Executive Position in the club/organization. A certificate will be given to each Advisor and the President and Vice President of the awarded organization. A plaque will reside in the 学生参议院 Office to commend the past and present winners.
